Scientific diving
Scientific diving is an important tool for marine researchers to observe, document and conduct empirical studies in coastal environments. At Kristineberg Marine Research Station, researchers and students can undertake scientific diving or snorkelling/free diving as part of research projects, studies, skills development and leisure activities.
Kristineberg has trained dive leaders and diving personnel who can provide dive support for research projects.
The Kristineberg diving centre has a compressor for filling breathing air (200 and 300 bar). The compressor is serviced once a year, and air quality is checked at least once a year. The air filters are replaced regularly.
Kristineberg has well-maintained diving equipment for up to 12 divers, as well as a range of specialised equipment for underwater use, such as underwater positioning systems, tablets, cameras and lifting systems.
Safety equipment available in the diving centre includes an oxygen kit, first aid equipment, a knife, a dive flag, a rescue net, power and lifelines, and wired communication.
Boats with folding bows suitable for diving can be rented at Kristineberg.
Kristineberg has 16 sets of snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins and weight belt) available for loan.
At Kristineberg’s diving facilities, you can rinse, dry and store diving equipment, and carry out basic maintenance. Showers, saunas and changing rooms are located next to the diving centre.
