The researchers have arrived at Wasa

Ian Brown and Ninis Rosqvist are packing for their first field trip of the Antarctic season

Wasa Station, Antarctica, 19 December

The research teams led by Ninis Rosqvist (WP 8) and Ian Brown (WP 9) have now arrived at Wasa. Ian Brown (Stockholm University) says:

“We arrived late on Wednesday due to delays caused by aircraft issues, bad weather in Antarctica and, last but not least, the launch of Starlink satellites.

Yesterday we carried out safety exercises (in case someone falls into a crevasse) and prepared our equipment. Today we’re continuing equipment testing and taking our first snow samples.

The temperature was –13°C last night; right now it’s –10°C.”
