The expedition ends in Longyearbyen

Longyearbyen, Svalbard, 2025-09-19
After six intensive weeks in the Arctic Ocean, the expedition has now ended. Today, the participants travel together to Oslo and then on to their respective countries.
During the expedition, researchers, technicians, students, teachers, artists and crew have worked side by side and built a strong community – from fieldwork on the ice to Saturday dinners and the traditional ping-pong tournament.
The measurements will contribute new knowledge about the climate system in the Arctic and its global connections. In collaboration with Canada, we have mapped parts of the Arctic seabed, knowledge that will be important for future management of the Arctic. In addition, in the Polar Connect collaboration, important parts of the Arctic Ocean seabed have been mapped for future infrastructure. Special thanks go to the graduate school students, who made outstanding contributions during their first polar expedition.
Thank you to everyone who followed the expedition!
