The icebreaker Oden has left the Gulf of Bothnia and arrived to the shipyard in Landskrona. On May 22, the approximately 14-day maintenance work is planned to start. It is an important part of the preparations for the upcoming expedition Synoptic Arctic Survey.

The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat will work with general updates and adapt Oden before the expedition to the Arctic Ocean. Among other things, researchers will look for fish at a depth of 300 to 600 meters. The methods to be used are acoustics, cameras, trawls, nets and ropes.

In addition, the ship's multibeam will be upgraded to provide researchers with better data and a new winch will be mounted.
