The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat and the Swiss Polar Institute are strengthening their cooperation in polar research. A new Memorandum of Understanding will create better conditions for scientific collaboration, researcher exchanges and access to research infrastructure.
On 8 October, the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat and the Swiss Polar Institute (SPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Reykjavík, Iceland. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between Sweden and Switzerland in polar research and logistics.
The cooperation will, among other things, facilitate exchanges for early-career researchers and give researchers from both countries access to national research infrastructure and other resources. The MoU also covers the exchange of knowledge and practical experience in polar logistics and operational planning.
– The cooperation with the Swiss Polar Institute creates new opportunities for exchanges between Sweden and Switzerland. International collaboration is an important part of creating favourable conditions for Swedish polar research, says Katarina Gårdfeldt, Director of the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.
