Since 2020, Sweden has had a strategy for the Arctic region that includes polar research and environmental monitoring. To strengthen Sweden's position in polar research further, the government requests that the secretariat identify strategic priorities for Swedish research in Antarctica.

The assignment is to be reported by no later than May 1, 2024.
