SWEDARP 2010/11

Oden Southern Ocean

This year’s expedition, the fifth such, is being conducted as a unique joint effort between the American vessel Nathaniel B. Palmer and the Swedish icebreaker Oden. The ships will rendezvous at the ice edge of the Amundsen Sea, where they will exchange researchers and equipment. The research conducted during the expedition will be trans-disciplinary, touching on subjects ranging from long-lived pollutants and greenhouse gases, epidemiology, and microbial ecology to oceanography and the physics of ocean ice.
