
The research station Wasa.
The DML Wasa 2011/12 expedition is carried out by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat. The aim is to continue maintenance work of vehicles and the research station Wasa, make an environmental inventory and train new staff.
The expedition is carried out in close co-operation with the Finnish Antarctic research Programme FINNARP, and the participants will stay at the Finnish resarch station Aboa, located close to Wasa.
The Wasa Research Station was built at Vestfjella in Dronning Maud Land during the 1988/89 Antarctic Expedition. The station is located at 73°03'S, 13°25'W at the Basen nunatak. Wasa and Aboa Research Station constitutes the Nordenskiold Base.
